Low-Vision Advocacy ProgramHome About Us Programs Counties Served Resources Events Contactact

By researching and developing tools and resources for Independent Living skills training and group building, the LVA will be able to effectively advocate for the low-vision population.

The LVA will:
• Perform community-based assessment and advocacy projects, and when appropriate, legislative initiatives.
• Provide technical assistance of low and high tech tools and information sources to consumers.
• Give hands-on IL skills training and education to visually impaired consumers through resources development and delivery.
• Assess the needs of children with vision impairments and find resources to address those needs.
• Refer consumers to other resources such as: Chapter II, ACB, local support groups and more.
• Provide assistance to consumers in self and systems advocacy skills through modeling and action planning.
• Assist in the development of resources through grassroots advocacy and networking.
• Provide training, resource finding, make presentations and facilitate groups as specialized assistance to county coordinators.
• Research and develop a training module and tool kit for ongoing use by fellow staff members.
